Lana grew up in a multicultural, working-class community where food insecurity shaped her early awareness of community need. This experience fueled a lifelong commitment to public service, leading to volunteer work and a run for Haverhill City Council in 1991. Following the loss of her husband, she balanced raising her daughter, running a home improvement business, and advocating for food and nutrition initiatives. She later spent 25 years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance as an operations and office manager before retiring in 2024.

Although I no longer live in North Andover, I spent more than 20 years there and continue to feel a strong connection to the community. Alongside my husband, Darrin, I raised our two sons, Jason and Carter, in North Andover. During my time working as a substitute teacher, I witnessed firsthand the growing gap between families with resources and those facing financial hardship.

Professionally, I served as the Director of Grant Management at the Merrimack Valley YMCA, where I secured funding for a wide range of programs. Among the most rewarding was the Food Program. Through grant funding, I helped secure two food trucks, allowing the program to expand and serve more families in need.

Today, I am proud to bring that experience to Peoples Food Pantry. Helping secure funding allows me to continue supporting a community that was home to my family for many years. The need is real and immediate, and I am grateful for the opportunity to use my grant-writing and fundraising skills to help ensure that families have access to the resources they need.
